Deathlehem 2018!

While folks are still in the holiday spirit, we are putting out the call for Deathlehem 2018 (working title only). For more information, head on over to our Submissions/Guidelines page.

Closing for the Holidays

As we do every year, we will be closing the submission window as of December 1st and re-opening it as of January 2nd, so if you have something ready and want to submit it, you have a just under two weeks to get it in. Otherwise, you will need to wait until next year.

Wishing everyone a Scary Christmas and Healthy New Year!

Introducing GRAVE MARKERS

We all know that every story has its own length, a set number of words needed to tell the story it needs to tell. Some are very clearly short stories -- under 10,000 words -- while others that require more (20,000 words or more) are novellas or novels. But what about those in-between stories, the stories that fall awkwardly between the 10,000 and 20,000 words.

Recently we've been receiving stories that fall into that category and we were at a loss as to what to do with them. Too long for an anthology, but not quite long enough to stand on its own as a short novel (novella), these novelettes often fall through the cracks and it's a shame because often they are quite good but publishers just don't know what to do with them.

HOCKOMOCK Now Open to All Authors

We have opened up submissions to Hockomock to all authors from any location. We STRONGLY ADVISE that your research the area and become familiar with the area known as The Bridgewater Triangle before writing and submitting for this anthology. Any stories that do not show a familiarity with the location will be rejected.

CRANIAL LEAKAGE, Volume 1 -- CLOSED TO SUBMISSIONS

We are no longer taking submissions for Volume 1 of Cranial Leakage. Any stories received for this anthology from this point on (4/21/14) will be considered for Volume 2, to be published next year. We will be posting a list of authors and their stories by the end of the week. Please note, this list will not be in any particular order. A TOC will follow shortly thereafter.

2014 Anthologies Announced and More News

The planned anthologies for 2014 have been announced (see http://www.grinningskullpress.com/Submissions-Guidelines.html for Submission Guidelines). They are as follows:

Return to Deathlehem (a Christmas-themed collection of horror stories for charity)

Hockomock: Tales from the Bridgewater Triangle (open to MA residents only)

ATTACK! of the B-Movie Monsters: Alien Encounters

Little Monsters: Horror for Kids by Kids

Cranial Leakage (an annual unthemed collection of horror stories)

We have also opened the door to novel and novella submissions. More information can be found at the link above.

Submission Deadline for Charity Christmas Anthology Extended

We have extended the deadline for the Charity Christmas Anthology, You now have until the end if August to get your stories in.

B-Movie Anthology Extension

We have received several requests by authors who need a little more time to finish up their submissions for the B-Movie Anthology, so we are extending the deadline through the end of April.

B-Movie Anthology Update

If you are thinking of submitting a story to our B-Movie anthology, please keep in mind that we are looking for GIANT CREATURE/CRITTER stories. What we ARE NOT looking for are stories about aliens, vampires, werewolves, serial killers, golems, etc. We intentionally pointed out movies like The Deadly Mantis, Tarantula, It Came from Beneath the Sea, and THEM! so authors would have a better idea of what we are seeking.

CHRISTMAS-THEMED ANTHOLOGY FOR CHARITY

We have just announced a Christmas-themed anthology, with proceeds being donated to charity. See our Submissions page for more details.
